Hello friends, welcome to this week’s Memory Dump. I am going to be publishing these every Friday moving forward so you’ll have more time to read them during the weekend. In this issue, I’m back to the random collection of content I’ve encountered and captured throughout the week - from an Orthodox perspective on time management to the best non-fiction book I’ve read that isn’t politics or religion. Let’s jump in.
Psychiatry and It’s Consequences
This is an excellent lecture about the dangers of modern psychiatry and how the DSM (the Bible of psychiatry) is a marketing scheme for big pharma. 70% of the DSM “task force” has ties to pharma companies who fund the research for their own drugs, its a massive conflict of interest and one of the biggest problems of capitalism.
The antipsychiatry movement was founded by Marxists academics and today its seen as a largely right wing position, while most leftists are religiously pro-pharma. I shared this observation on Twitter and this reply pretty much nailed it.
